San Jose Jazz Kicks Off 2009 Sunday Series

The folks at San Jose Jazz kick off their 21st annual "Sunday Series" of afternoon jazz concerts on January 18 with jazz and blues singer Kim Nalley. The series continues through March 22.

Also appearing at this year's concert series, hosted at The Improv nightclub on 2nd Street in downtown San Jose, are Jesus Diaz and the Latin Jazz All Stars; composer, producer, and keyboard legend Jeff Lorber (performing with the 19-piece West Valley Jazz Orchestra); Brazilian vocalist Claudia Villela; the Amina Figarova Sextet; four-time Grammy-nominated saxophonist David Sanchez; and Wayne Wallace and John Worley (co-hosting a Miles Davis tribute).

2nd Annual Silicon Valley Composers Showcase featuring A Touch of Brass

All Sunday Jazz Series performances take place from 2 to 4 pm at The Improv, 62 South 2nd Street in downtown San Jose. Tickets for individual concerts are $30 ($20 for students & SJJ members, $10 more for Kim Nalley's show) and can be purchased by calling The Improv box office at 408.280.7475.
